Do you have questions about our bond proposal on your election ballot? Please come to our Q & A tonight! There will be Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, chips, drinks and more. We will be giving tours of the buildings that need to be replaced and will answer questions and provide details about the bond proposal. The event will start at 6:30. Can't make it, but still have questions? Come in, call, or email us and we will answer your questions and/or address your concerns. Hope to see you tonight!

Deer Park Bond FAQ--What about grants and donations to lower the overall cost? What if the building does not cost $4 million? The building committee, board of trustees, administration, and Booster Club will work to obtain all possible grants and donations to help offset the overall cost of the project. We are open to community contractors and vendors supporting our project in any way possible such as donation of time or materials. Deer Park will work with a local lending entity to sell bonds in chunks instead of all bonds at once. If we come in under the proposed budget, not all the bonds will be sold and the tax impact will be less.

The Daily Interlake will publish biographies for each of the candidates running in our School Board trustee election. They will be in the newspaper Friday April 25.

Join us at Deer Park for our upcoming Community Meeting to learn more about the bond and ask questions. We will offer tours of the spaces to be replaced, a Q&A session, as well as refreshments. Please encourage your neighbors to join you!

Deer Park Bond FAQ: Is Deer Park building to accommodate out-of-district students? Why does Deer Park accept out-of-district students?
No, the buildings that are being replaced are failing. Deer Park wants to remain a tight-knit rural school and community. The 2023 Montana Legislature implemented prioritizing parents' choice for student enrollment. Because of this change, Deer Park is required to accept out-of-district students if there is room (with a few exceptions). Deer Park maintains smaller class sizes than the state cap due to physical space. Even with the replacement building, class sizes are not expected to change dramatically. However, a replacement building will create much needed space for our specialists (special education, Title I, counselors, speech and language pathologists, etc.) and small groups. Furthermore, because of legislative changes, Deer Park will be charging tuition to the districts where the out-of-district students reside. Since Deer Park has more out-of-district student coming in than in-district students going out, we will be taking in a net positive amount for this past school year thus reducing the tax payers' burden.
